The components of language acquisition in children and what are the reasons that lead to delayed language development
(First -
Elements of language acquisition)
• The integrity of the sensory
channels, the most important of which are (hearing and sight).
• The health of the brain function
(the extent of the health of the mental ability and the level of intelligence
of the individual).
• The safety of mental health, which
is intended (visual communication and social interaction).
The stimulating environment
(everything that surrounds the individual and affects him positively, directly
or indirectly).
And the importance of the environment
for the individual and its impact on the extent to which the individual
acquires a language or delays its development after making sure of the
integrity of the sensory channels, mental ability, mental health, it must be
observed paying attention to several things :
First: The mother, who is the first
person who comes into contact with the child, must know the extent of her
interest, presence and cooperation with regard to the child or not.
Second: (the family) how to deal with
the child in terms of the degree of interest or lack thereof.
Third: (distractions), which
negatively affect the child, including watching cartoon movies at an early age,
and their negative impact is the following:
1. Excessive movement.
2. Multiple languages and dialects.
3. Learn the Not logical.
4. Difficulty understanding most of
the words and sentences.
5. Leaving the child in front of
modern means of entertainment for long periods leads to what is called social
alienation and may lead to (the autism spectrum)
Fourth: (places of study) the nursery
school or the school in terms of the extent of his interaction with his
friends, his relationship with the teacher and his desire to learn.
Fifth: (street or club) knowing the extent to
which it accepts individuals and how to deal with them positively or
negatively.
From all of the above, it becomes
clear to us that one of the most important areas that a speech pathologist
should be concerned with are as follows:
1. Elements of basic language
acquisition:
Pre-language skills (visual and
auditory attention - concentration - perception - imitation - social
interaction)
2. Understanding and remembering:
(Increasing vocabulary - understanding
an ordinary matter - understanding a long matter - understanding a complex
matter - remembering)
3. Acoustics:
(Exiting sounds - merging sounds
"words" - pronunciation skills "drills")
4. Grammar (context):
(Pronouns - Verbs - Tenses -
Grammar)
5. Expression and description
(rhetoric):
(sentence - dialogue)
6. Treatment of language disorders:
(voice disorder - speech disorder -
language disorder)
7. Tests - such as standardized
language tests and others:
(Dalia Mustafa - Nahla Al-Rifai - Abu
Hasiba - Darb Share - Portage test)
8. Measures of non-verbal
communication with people with disabilities such as:
(Pcs - Pictogram - Mactum - Ramos
Place)
9. The use of sensory integration
during the implementation of the treatment plan.
10. Using behavior modification
skills during the implementation of the treatment plan.
(Second
- the reasons that lead to the delay in language development)
• Hearing impairment - the
assessment is done through a hearing examination and examination of auditory
discrimination and the ability to distinguish sounds.
• Delayed mental ability - it is not
a single degree, but rather it is measured according to the IQ test for
individuals.
• Autism spectrum disorder.
• The motor disability of the speech
and vocal organs "delayed vocal development".
• Social and environmental factors,
including:
1- Family instability and depriving
the child of the correct social upbringing factors.
2- Negative social upbringing based
on corporal punishment at home and at school.
3- Children imitating a family member
who has a language disorder.
4 - cultural deprivation or
introversion and lack of involvement in society.
5- Environmental pollution with some
chemical substances that cause poisoning, such as lead, mercury and chlorine.
